Dave McClure officially files to start venture firm, 500 Startups LP

Dave McClure, prolific Silicon Valley angel investor, filed with the SEC for formation of a $30 million investment firm called 500 Startups LP. The fund, previewed by TechCrunch in January, has a maximum fund size of three times early estimates of $10 million. McClure, a startup veteran with roles at PayPal and Simply Hired, is already an active angel investor. His CrunchBase profile lists 16 investments in startups in 2010 alone. McClure is also an investor with fbFund and runs startup get-together Startup2Startup.
